The Frederick Children's Chorus is dedicated to offering to all children in the community an opportunity to learn to love to sing, become skilled readers of musical notation, and study selections of music from many genres, periods in history, and languages, through age-appropriate vocal training. The Chorus provides singers with performance experience and rehearsal practices to serve them for a lifetime. We strive to nurture the unique gift of each child, to strive for excellence, and to raise responsible and compassionate citizens of the world.

The Frederick Children's Chorus was founded in 1985 by founder and artistic director, Judith DuBose. From a small beginning, it has grown from a modest group of thirteen children to a five-tiered program involving over one-hundred-and-fifty singers. Despite it's name, the chorus has served children from surrounding counties, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

The music selected for the chorus offers children the opportunity to sing in many languages and to learn styles of music from many cultures and periods in history. Through the art of song, students have an opportunity to fully appreciate the poetry, philosophy, human emotions, and patriotism expressed in the lyrics of the music they learn. Songs with religious texts offer singers the opportunity to learn about ideologies other than their own. At no time is religious music programmed to endorse a particular faith or ideology. All music is studied for music's sake.

Members of the choruses have often invited to perform for local and regional events. In the last five years, the chorus has performed with the Baltimore Symphony, the Maryland Symphony, jazz vocalist, Jeremy Ragsdale, and Judy Collins. The Concert Chorus has participated as demonstration chorus for Henry Leck (Washington, DC, 2006). The Concert Chorus and Chamber Singers have performed in ACDA conferences and adjudicated festivals, where they have consistently received superior ratings. In 2005 the Concert Chorus and the Chamber Singers participated in the Heritage Festival of Gold in New York City and worked with clinicians Anton Armstrong and André Thomas and adjudicators, composers Z. Randall Stroope and Mack Willburg, and the late ACDA Executive Director, Gene Brooks.

In June, 2011 a group of 29 singers traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana for the Crescent City Choral Festival and joined 9 other choruses from around the country to sing with world renowned musicians Cheryl DuPont and Bob Chilcott. In June, 2012, the chorus will travel to Denver, Colorado to participate with several hundred other singers in the Sing a Mile High Choral Festival, directed by guest conductor, David Brunner.
